Overview

Company

HealingHand Tech helps recovering stroke patients regain control of their limbs using a wearable device, gamified patient experience, and seamless clinician portal.

Problem

  • Patients find traditional therapeutic exercises repetitive and uninteresting.

  • Low patient engagement in their stroke rehabilitation program can limit recovery potential.

  • Clinicians prefer a frictionless experience that can be easily integrated to their existing workflow.

Outcomes

  • Conceptualized, designed, and iterated on six clinician-facing user flows relying heavily on Material Design (M3) design system

  • 100% (5 out of 5) of occupational therapists found the overall user interface intuitive, simple, and straightforward

Key Takeaways

  1. Working with a team of many designers, I quickly became familiar with the use of a design system. I mastered Material Design and learned how to create a brand new design system from scratch.

  2. I got to see the value of approaching a problem with multiple design solutions. We then used A/B testing to distill the best elements of each design.

Next steps

  1. Create brand cohesion and a truly seamless experience by ensuring our designs align with the patient-facing app and wearable device technology.

  2. Dive deeper into the data visualizations by better understanding what information might be most useful to clinicians and how to best represent them.
